We are on the very first train of the morning, Metro north Train 6502, the thru train from Grand Central Terminal to New Haven, as we make our station stop at South Norwalk, and then proceed to our next stop, which is Westport (we skip East Norwalk). While in South Norwalk, we see an uncommon occurance; an Amtrak HHP-8 hauling flat cars full of rail. It’s amusing to think that some of the newer electric engines for Amtrak have already been relegated to freight duty since they are so unreliable as passenger engines. Unfortunately, they were only moving at 30 MPH or so, whereas we moved at track speed. Anyway, we are in 10 M2’s, and we finish the video just after crossing Saga Bridge over the Saugatuck River, as we look at the old approach signals. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on January 28th, 2012….
