Perhaps I lingered on F778’s reverse move a little too long. As I shut off the camera, the railfans positioned across the road in view of the NS line began shouting and gesturing wildly. At first I figured they were just being nice and getting everyone else’s attention for an approaching NS train, but then I heard the phrase ‘blue engine leading’ and made a run for it. Sadly he was already too close to allow for anything other than a hit-the-Record-button-and-pray grab shot, but this was one I was NOT going to let pass by without recording something, underexposure and a non-level tripod notwithstanding. V18 cruised under Vaughan Road and the CSX main led by ex-Conrail SD50 5415, still in its original owner’s blue livery, and C40-9W 9725. To top it all off, the engineer saluted with a quick ’shave and a haircut’ to a very appreciative crowd….
